Mr. Hassan Bouhadi is a British-Libyan executive with 18 years’ experience leading public-sector institutions and the Middle East/Africa business units of major multinational corporations through challenging transitions. From 2014 until 2016, Bouhadi was Chair of The Board of Directors and CEO of the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), Libya’s USD 67 billion sovereign wealth fund. Hassan’s leadership was critical to maintaining the fund’s capital and safeguarding the institution’s governance structure during the Libyan political crisis. Prior to his Chairmanship of the LIA, Bouhadi was Dubai-based Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa for Wacker Chemie, one of the world’s leading research-intensive chemical enterprises. He also served as General Electric’s Country President Libya, in which capacity he was responsible for supporting the Libyan public sector in improving local services in the energy, healthcare and aviation sectors, and helping rebuild Libya’s utility infrastructure. In 2013, Bouhadi founded and led the Decision Support Unit for the Libyan Government under Prime Minister Ali Zaidan, setting performance targets and monitoring government ministries’ progress towards those targets. Bouhadi began his career in 1997 as a field engineer with Bechtel International in London, in the context of the company’s graduate fast-track management program. In this capacity, he was exposed to a variety of infrastructure projects in UK and across the Middle East. Bouhadi is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from University College London, and a Master’s degree in Engineering from Imperial College London. He is married and blessed with three daughters.
